Sailing

RBBSC offers members keen on their racing a club race series, starting with the Spring series in April and finishing with the Winter series in October with the Summer and Autumn in the middle to complete the four season series. In addition to the sailing series, there are also individual events and trophies to be won for all ages including Commodore's Day, RNLI Lifeboat Day Sail to Staithes and the Regatta, which is open to visiting boats for a weekend's racing. Racing happens Sundays throughout the season and prizes are awarded at the close of the season. If racing is not your thing, then there is plenty of opportunity to get out on the water yourselves, on a Sunday using the clubs boats, in your own time or why not join one of our members only training days. Members also have the use of changing rooms, hot showers, boat park and tractors for launching and recovery of boats. Our own Safety Boat is also on hand each Sunday throughout the season, to do race duties and provide safety cover for members.

Training Centre

Royal Yachting Association Training Centre

Training is available to members only and RBBSC is an official Royal Yachting Association Training Centre, providing its members with certified sail training by volunteer members who are all officially RYA qualified. We run courses for both young people and adults. These include RYA Level 1 and 2 on both catamarans and monohulls, Youth Sailing Scheme (for water confident children over age 8) and Poweboat Level 2.

Young People's Sailing

Young People's Sailing

There are many opportunities for children and young people to be involved in sailing at Runswick Bay Beach and Sailing Club. We offer RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Courses for water confident children aged 8 and over and our instructors are often on hand to give informal training and advice. Family Sailing Saturdays provide a time when young people and their families can practice their sailing with the safety boat in attendance and the friendly support of more experienced sailors. There are plenty of occasions throughout the season for Juniors (8-13 years) and Cadets (14-18 years) to take part in competitive sailing with a special Young Persons' race on Commodore's Day and a Youth Regatta with races for parent and child pairings and independent sailors. End of season trophies are also awarded. In addition, there are always opportunities for young people to crew on the Darts during adult racing.

Club Boats

RBBSC has a range of dinghies for the use of members. Currently, we have a Laser Bug, three Laser Picos and two Dart 16s. These are used for training purposes or may be taken out for recreational sailing when the safety boat is in attendance.
