1. Club boats must be moved from the boat park on their trolleys once covers have been removed and stored neatly. When moving the RBBSC Boats on their launching trolleys it is necessary NOT to lift the trolley handle to high, as this will cause the rear end of the boat to scrape along the ground and cause damage.
2. Club boats must be rigged and launched in front of the boat park.
3. Rudders must be securely attached to the transom, and the ring clip to be attached to the pintle where appropriate, to ensure that in a capsize the rudder will not come lose.
4. The dagger board must be attached to the boat via shock cord, to ensure that if the boat capsizes that the dagger board does not float away.
5. Ensure the bases of masts are clean of sand before placing into the boats.
6. It is the responsibility of the club member to ensure that the boat is properly rigged. If you are unsure whether you have rigged the boat properly please ask another member of the club to check your boat before launching.
1. Before launching ensure you have signed out in the log book on the bar, you have notified someone on the shore to supervise you and you are wearing a buoyancy aid.
2. Safety helmets are to be worn by all junior and cadet members using a club boat, incl. Laser. (Helmets are kept in the Men’s Changing room).
3. Ensure the boat buoyancy hatch and drain bungs are closed before launching.
4. Club boats must be launched by two people and trolleys left at the top of the beach out of reach of an incoming tide. Please ask another member of the club to help.
5. Once away from the shore ensure the rudder is fully down and secured. Beware of catching the foils on the rocks when sailing in shallow water.1. When sailing club boats keep within the bay and avoid those who are racing.
1. The RBBSC dinghies are NEVER to be beached; they must be placed on a trolley before removing from the water.
2. The rear tips of the foils can break off easily if run aground. Boats returning to the beach MUST pull up their rudder and dagger board before entering shallow water.
3. A helper/or helpers must be waiting in the water support the safe removal of the boat from the water. Making boats safe to be moved off the water whatever the sea conditions is a two person job.

5. If no one else has expressed a wish to take the boat out it is your responsibility to put the boat away as you found it.
6. If you have capsized in the boat the sails must not be rolled up on the beach.
1. All boats are to be washed overall, particularly the fittings, and the spars.
2. If you have had a capsize sails must be fresh water washed and left to dry before rolling up.
3. Club boats must be returned to the correct place in the boat park and boat covers are to be securely tied on.
4. Where locks are fitted onto the foils and spars these are to be secured.
5. Sails must be returned to the men’s changing room.
6. Sailors must sign their return in the log book in the clubhouse.
The boats must be properly maintained, this involves frequent checks to ensure that each boat has all its equipment, that parts are not loose and falling off, or screws loose. Should you notice a fault or problem with any of the RBBSC Boats please inform a committee member. There will be a work book put behind the bar to log work that needs to be carried out.
